Gurugram: Gurugram is conducting the highest number of Covid-19 testing than all other districts of the state falling in the NCR region, claimed Gurugram Deputy Commissioner Amit Khatri on Friday. He further said that a vigorous testing campaign is being conducted to identify the corona infected patients in the district.

He made an appeal to all the citizens of Gurugram to get themselves tested for Covid-19 infection as the rapid antigen test is being done for free of cost. More than two thousand people are being tested in the district every day.

He was addressing a press conference held on Friday at John Hall, Civil Lines. The conference was also attended by Ashok Sangwan, Divisional Commissioner of Gurugram, Vinay Pratap Singh, Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram, Nikita Gehlot, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Headquarter).

Khatri claimed that the number of active coronavirus infected patients in Gurugram is 1,183, out of which, 755 patients are staying in self-isolation at their homes. “The district administration is contacting these patients daily through the Zoom App and resolving their problems. Teams of doctors and experts have been constituted to solve the problems of these patients so that their problems can be resolved promptly during home the isolation period,” he said.

Besides, through the 24x7 district helpline number – 1950, problems related to other basic and medical facilities of patients are also being solved. If anyone has a query related to Covid-19, he/she can dial this helpline 1950 and get their problem resolved. More than one lakh calls were received on this helpline. 

While highlighting that there has been a decline in active cases of coronavirus, he said that earlier there were 2,300 active cases, now it has come down to 1,183. Still the district administration is fully alert and measures are being taken to control it cautiously.

Referring to the immunity booster kits distributed by the Department of AYUSH in the high-risk area, DC Khatri said that so far about 1.25 lakh immunity booster kits have been distributed in such areas.

Giving out the detailed arrangements made by the district administration to tackle the coronavirus pandemic situation in the Gurugram, the Deputy Commissioner said that there are a total of 4708 beds available in hospitals, of which, 679 are ICU and 327 beds with ventilators. Of these, 1,486 beds have been reserved for Covid-19 patients. Similarly, 192 ICU and 92 beds with ventilators are also reserved. At present 375 beds, 102 ICU beds and 38 beds with ventilators are occupied by Covid-19 patients.

“There is no shortage of medical facilities in Gurugram District, so there is no need to panic but take precautions to prevent disease and must follow Covid-19 protocol including wearing facemask and maintaining social distancing,” DC Khatri said.
