New Delhi: The city of Delhi is witnessing a consistent rise in the number of cases in the last few days. In the last seven days, the number of cases has been in the range of 2,000. Delhi registered the highest single day spike of 3,947 cases on June 23.
However, the recovery rate is increasing significantly. Way ahead of the country’s recovery rate of 60.81 per cent, it has crossed 70 per cent in Delhi.
Not only this, the positivity rate is also declining remarkably. It has now dropped to 10.58 per cent. Positivity rate is the total number of people who have been tested positive out of the total tests conducted.
There has also been a decline in the number of active cases in Delhi. It now stands at 25,940. Since June 24, the number of active cases has come within the range of 25,000 for the first time.
As per a bulletin issued by the health department, 2,505 positive cases were recorded on Saturday taking the total tally to 97,200 in Delhi. With 55 fatalities, the death toll reached 3,004.
Overwhelmed by the rise in the recovery rate, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter to congratulate the corona warriors in the state. He tweeted, “Due to the efforts of Delhi's 2 crore people, the hard work has paid off. Congratulations to all corona warriors for taking the recovery rate of Delhi to over 70 per cent. We all need to work hard to defeat corona.”
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia also expressed happiness over the rise of recovery rate above 70 per cent.
However, the experts have warned against the complacency. They said that if the current trends sustain over next few weeks then Delhi may pass the peak in August.
They advised proper adherence to prescribed precautions and social distancing to improve the situation further in the national capital.
