New Delhi: With 1,379 cases, Delhi on Monday witnessed a significant dip in the daily number of coronavirus cases. For the past one week, the daily number of coronavirus cases were in the range of 2,000. It is a positive sign from the perspective that testing has been ramped up in the city. The average number of samples tested per day has gone up from 5,481 to 18,766 in a month.

Not only this, the positivity rate has declined from 30 per cent to 10 per cent in the last three weeks. The recovery figures are also increasing consistently in the national capital. 749 persons recovered from coronavirus on Monday taking the total to 72,088. So far, Delhi has seen a total of 1,00,823 cases.

As per Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, as the recovery rate has gone up to 72 per cent, there is no need to panic over the total number of cases crossing 1 lakh mark. He said that more and more people are recovering on a daily basis. “There has been a considerable dip in the positivity ratio and the death rate,” he said.

48 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the total tally to 3,115, as per the health bulletin by the state government. As far as active cases are concerned, there are 25,620 cases in the national capital which is 25 per cent of the total cases reported in the national capital. 

However, India registered 24,248 cases on Monday taking the total tally close to 7 lakh mark. India has a total of 6,97,413 cases at the moment. India is now the third most affected country in the world. India surpassed the figures of Russia on Sunday evening.
