Dwarka: CCRT conducts tree plantation drive
Dwarka: The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) organised a tree plantation drive in association with the Horticulture Department of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) in Dwarka on Tuesday. It was held at the CCRT’s headquarters in Sector 7.
It was organised to reinforce ‘Sankalp Parva’, an initiative of Ministry of Culture, Government of India to motivate people to plant trees and make the environment clean and healthy.
On the occasion, saplings of Amaltas (Golden Shower Trees) were planted by the officials of CCRT.
Chairperson of CCRT, Dr Hemlata S Mohan said that trees are life. She said, “Indian painting, sculpture, architectural ornamentation, and the decorative arts is replete with themes from nature reflecting love and reverence. Therefore, there is need for the ethics of conservation.”
CCRT’s Director, Rishi Kumar Vashist emphasised on the need to protect and conserve the environment. He said, “We believe that planting of trees plays a very important role in protecting our environment against air pollution and global warming. I am happy to see the high enthusiasm exhibited by DDA. Let us pledge, not only to plant trees, but also nurture them.”
