After first rain, major water bodies revive at Dwarka

Dwarka: After the first rain of the rainy season on July 4, the two major water bodies, located at sectors 23 and 20, have now become full of water. Activists, involved in its revival for a long time, are happy these days looking at the replenishment of the tank of the water body.

An activist, Diwan Singh who has been instrumental in revival said, “Water bodies in district parks at sectors 23 and 20 received good amounts of water after the recent rain. It received water from the storm water drains and local catchment.”

“This is encouraging for activists working on revival of water bodies in the area. There is a woodland around the water body of Sector 23 where local species of trees have been planted to restore the local ecosystem. It gives satisfaction to look at the replenishment and the increasing underground water table,” he added.

Due to the good amount of water in the tank, birds and animal life has improved there. A herd of Peacock and Neelgai can often be seen next to the water body. Ducks have made this water body their home.
