New Delhi: The coronavirus situation has slowly but steadily improved in the last few days. On Friday, the number of people recovered from the coronavirus infection exceeded the number of positive cases. 2,468 people were recovered, while 2,089 people were found to have coronavirus positive on Friday.

There has been a steady rise in the recovery rate. It is now more than 77 per cent. It was 71.74 per cent on July 5, up from 63.32 per cent in the week before.

The aggressive strategies of the Delhi government are bearing its fruits. They have been coming out with many initiatives to contain the coronavirus spread. These included home isolation, aggressive testing, isolation of patients, increasing hospital beds, setting up of a plasma bank etc.

As per the health department, the Delhi’s tally of confirmed cases reached 1,09,140 on Friday. 42 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 3,300.

Now, there are 21,146 active cases in the national capital. Out of that, 12,272 patients are in home isolation. Meanwhile, 10,129 RT-PCR tests and 12,832 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Friday. 7,47,109 tests have been done so far.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday commended the plasma donors and thanked them for making contributions towards saving lives. He appealed to them to encourage more people to come forward and donate plasma.

“When I hear stories of plasma donors, I feel very proud of my fellow Delhiites. So, I decided to call and congratulate some donors,” Kejriwal tweeted.
