Solace for Delhiites as coronavirus situation gets better with each passing day
New Delhi: There has been no stopping as far as the improvement in the coronavirus situation in Delhi is concerned. There was an arrest of sorts in new cases which is now consistently ranging between 1,000-2,000. For the sixth consecutive day, the number of new coronavirus cases stayed below 2,000 on Thursday.
On the other hand, recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases, resulting in drop in the active cases. A total of 1,994 patients recovered on Thursday taking the recovery rate past 82 per cent, which is way above the national rate. On the other hand, 1,652 new cases were reported on Thursday. As a result, the active cases declined by 400.
Active cases have been declining consistently in the past two weeks. Barring two days, the active cases have declined on all the other days in July so far. On June 27, the active cases had touched 28,329, which was the highest so far reported in Delhi. It dropped to 17,407 on Thursday.
The total number of cases has now reached 1,18,645. As per the Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the cases would have been 2.5 lakh till July 15 as per the projections calculated on the basis of spike in the month of July. He said that the turnaround has only become possible due to the concerted efforts of all the stakeholders including Centre, different political parties, NGOs and medical staff.
On Thursday, the only grey area was a marginal increase in the fatalities. 58 people died due to coronavirus taking the toll to 3,545 in the national capital.
As per the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Arvind Kejriwal held a meeting with all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha MPs from Delhi to discuss the preparations which are being incorporated in Delhi to combat the spread of the coronavirus on Thursday.
