New Delhi: Despite an upsurge in the number of cases in India, the remarkable turnaround story with constant improvement in the coronavirus situation continued in Delhi on Sunday. Delhi recorded its lowest daily count in over a month’s period of time.   

On Sunday, Delhi reported 1,211 new cases taking the tally to 1,22,793 in the national capital. Sunday was the ninth straight day when cases were reported in the range of 1,000-2,000. The situation has improved continuously over the past one week.

On June 8, the city reported 1,007 new cases. In the last one week, the new cases have grown by one per cent every day. 

On the other hand, the recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases by a significant margin on Sunday. It has been happening consistently in the month of July so far, therefore, making the situation better and better.

A total of 1,860 patients recovered on Sunday taking the total figures to 1,03,134. As a result, the recovered shoot up to almost 84 per cent. Delhi’s recovery rate is around 20 per cent higher than the national recovery rate.

Active cases are also dropping every day in the national capital. Now, there are only 16,031 active cases. On Sunday, active cases dropped by 680 from the previous day. 

As far as fatality is concerned, there was a marginal increase in daily fatality from the previous day. On Sunday, 31 patients died from coronavirus. It was 26 on the previous day, the lowest single-day fatality since June 9.

5,762 RTPCR tests and 14,444 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Sunday. A total of 8,18,989 tests have been conducted till date, which is 43,104 tests per million population.
