New Delhi: With the onset of monsoon, the cases of vector-borne diseases – Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunya – are also rising in Delhi. Delhi is already battling the coronavirus pandemic.

As per the data released by all the three municipal corporations, the national capital has so far recorded 73 cases of vector-borne diseases. Out of the 73 cases, 38 are of Malaria and 22 are of Dengue. There are 13 cases of Chikungunya.

But the officials are quite optimistic about the current count of cases. As per them, the current count is 30 per cent less than the previous year.

In the same period last year, Delhi had recorded 107 cases of vector-borne diseases.

“We have the situation under control and fully prepared to deal with it in the coming days,” Ira Singhal, Additional Municipal Commissioner of North Municipal Corporation of Delhi was quoted as saying by The Tribune.

“Domestic breeding checking, fogging, anti-larval spray, and sanitisation of wet spots are being done to check mosquito breeding. Moreover, we are also doing awareness programs to sensitise the residents,” she said.
