New Delhi: Delhi on Monday witnessed a drastic drop in new coronavirus cases. 613 new cases were recorded which is the lowest increase in the last two months. The total number of cases has now increased to 1,31,219.

On the other hand, recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases. A total of 1,497 patients recovered in the last 24 hours taking the total recovery figure to 1,16,372. The recovery rate is now 88.6 per cent.

As a result, there was also a significant decline in the number of active cases. Active cases declined by 910 in the last 24 hours taking the total to 10,994.

There were 26 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The death toll has grown to 3,853 in the national capital.

A total of 11,506 tests, including 7,685 rapid antigen tests, were conducted in the last 24 hours. Till date, 9,58,283 tests have been conducted in the national capital.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that the Delhi’s Covid model is being discussed across the country and the world. He said that the coronavirus situation has improved since June when Delhi had climbed to second spot on the list of worst hit states.

“Due to the hard-work and mindfulness of two crore people in Delhi, the situation is now improving. On one side, while there has been a surge in COVID-19 cases across the world, there has been a drop in the numbers in Delhi,” he said.

“Today 88 per cent of those who contracted the virus have recovered. Only nine per cent of the cases are active. About 2-3 per cent have died. Now, around 12.5 thousand hospital beds are available for the patients,” he added.
