New Delhi: As the monsoon rains have started, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has issued guidelines for prevention and control of vector-borne diseases like Dengue, Malaria and Chikungunya.
They advised all the government/autonomous offices, educational institutions, religious places, market associations and RWAs to incorporate proper measures to contain the breeding of mosquitoes.
They issued dos and don’ts for the control of vector-borne diseases. It is as follows:
Dos:
Cover all water tanks and containers with well fitted lids
Empty, scrub and dry coolers every week
All used containers, junk materials, tyres, coconut shells should be properly disposed of
Change water in flower vases, plant pots, bird bath every week
Cover toilet seat if going out of home for more than a week
Wear full-sleeved clothing and use mosquito repellents
Put wire mesh on doors and windows
Use bed net at home and hospital
Create awareness among community
Don’ts:
Do not keep water container open
Don't use old grass of cooler in next season
Don't throw broken utensils, unused bottles, tins and old tyres
Don't allow water to stagnate in and around houses
Don't depend only on platelet count for diagnosis of Dengue
Don't allow children to play in water puddles and stagnant water bodies
