New Delhi: Delhi again reported the daily new cases around the 1,000 mark on Wednesday. It prompted a stagnation in new coronavirus cases in Delhi. The daily new cases have remained below 2,000 since July 11. On July 20 and 27, the new cases even dropped below the 1,000 mark.

The city reported 1,035 new coronavirus cases taking the tally to 1,33,310. There were 26 fatalities in the last 24 hours. The toll has now reached 3,907. A total of 17,392 tests were conducted.

The recoveries continued to outnumber the new cases. On Wednesday, 1,126 patients recovered from the deadly virus. The total number of recovered patients is 1,18,633 in the national capital. The recovery improved to 88.99 per cent.

There was also a decline in the active cases in the last 24 hours. On Wednesday, active cases dropped by 117 taking the total to 10,770 in the national capital.

As per the Delhi Corona App, out of the 16,038 dedicated coronavirus beds, 13,039 beds were unoccupied on Wednesday.

Now, with the improvement in the coronavirus situation, the hotels, which were linked to act as Covid care centres, were lying vacant in the past few days. It led to delinking of those hotels by the Delhi government.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “Some hotels were attached to hospitals to increase the number of Covid beds. In view of the improving situation and all hotel beds lying vacant for the last many days, these hotels are now being released.”

The Delhi government had linked around 40 hotels when there was a sudden spike in the coronavirus cases.

However, on the other side, the CM has directed officers to ensure the complete compliance to the guidelines on testing in Delhi.

“Existing guidelines say that if any patient’s antigen test is negative but has symptoms, RT-PCR test must be done on him. I directed the officers today to ensure strict compliance of these guidelines,” Kejriwal tweeted.
