Gurugram: With 77 people testing positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, Gurugram tally reached 8,989, according to the district health department on Thursday.

The district death toll counted to 122, while the overall recoveries jumped to 7,876 with 105 more patients getting discharged after recovery during the 24 hours period, the health bulletin said.

The district recovery rate slightly improved to 87.61 per cent from 87.19 per cent on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases now counted to 991, of which 5 are hospitalised at dedicated Covid hospitals. 75 are under observation at dedicated Covid healthcare centres whereas 139 are under observation at district Covid care centre. 772 patients are in home isolation.

A total of 1,01,803 samples have been taken so far, of which 91,276 were found to be negative, it said. 

Meanwhile, the district administration inaugurated its first plasma bank at Rotary blood bank in Sector 10 on Thursday. Five patients who have recovered earlier have donated their plasma to the blood bank which would help in treating the critical patients.

Gurugram is among the districts in the state which have the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases. Earlier, plasma banks were opened in Faridabad and PGI Rohtak.

The plasma will be available at the cost of Rs 8,500 per unit, while BPL card holders and pregnant women will be given plasma for free.

As on Thursday, Haryana state recorded 623 new cases and four deaths linked to coronavirus. The overall number of positive cases now counted to 34,254, while the deadly virus has claimed 417 lives so far in the state, the state health bulletin said.

As many as 920 patients have been recovered in the last 24 hours taking the tally of recovered patients to 27,340 in the state. The recovery rate slightly improved to 79.82 per cent from 78.56 per cent on Wednesday and 78.35 per cent on Tuesday, the data showed.

At the moment, the number of active cases stood at 6,497. The number of positive patients in critical care dropped to 131, among these, 117 patients are on oxygen support, while 14 on ventilators.

The state’s Covid-19 positive rate counted to 5.76 per cent while the fatality rate stood at 1.22 per cent. The state doubling rate of coronavirus cases is 24 days.
