Gurugram: Sare Homes conducts plantation drive near society

Gurugram: Residents of Sare Homes, located in Sector 92, carried out a plantation drive in and around their society on Saturday.

Coining the campaign as the Plantation Drive 2.0, around 150 residents of different ages participated in the drive and planted over 200 saplings in the green belt area adjoining their society.

“Last year, we took the initiative to develop a patch of 500 meters near our society and maintain it, which is why we have decided to do the same and coined the campaign as plantation drive 2.0. This year too, we developed a 200-meter long patch of green belt area wherein we removed debris and level it before the plantation drive. We have connected the sprinklers with the STP water from our society as well. It is vital to save the environment for our well being,” said Praveen Malik, RWA president.

Saplings of various trees and ornamental plants including Pilkhan, Amaltas, Chandni, Neem, Ficus among others were planted by the residents.

Rakesh Daultabad, MLA from Badshahpur Constituency, was the chief guest on the occasion, who planted saplings along with society children and urged them to nurture them to ensure the survival of the saplings.

Subhash Yadav, District Forest Officer, police officials, and RWA representatives were also present on the occasion.

Keeping in mind the social distancing norm due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the RWA carried out plantation drives in a scattered manner.

“We have requested the administration to allow the RWAs to develop and maintain the green belt areas nearby their society on Public-Private Partnership as our area lacks basic facilities. Also, we suggested building small ponds at the green belts to recharge underground water for greater benefit,” Malik added.
