GB Nagar records 79 new coronavirus cases; recovery rate declines

Noida: Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar recorded 79 new cases of Covid-19, pushing the tally to 5,509, as per the official data on Monday.

So far, the deadly disease has claimed 43 lives in the district with no new casualty reported in the last 24 hours. The fatality rate now stands at 0.78 per cent, official data said.

As many as 43 patients have been discharged after recovery during the 24 hours period, taking the overall number of recoveries to 4,545, the health bulletin said.

The district’s recovery rate has seen a downward trend over the past week. As on Monday, the recovery further dropped to 82.50 per cent from 82.89 per cent on Sunday, 83.31 per cent on Saturday, 83.89 on Friday, 84.77 per cent on Thursday and 85.48 per cent on Wednesday, according to the statistics.

The total number of active cases climbed to 921 from 886 on Sunday and 846 on Saturday, it showed.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh’s Covid-19 tally has crossed the 97,000 mark after 4,473 fresh cases reported on Monday, while 50 more persons succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, the state health department said.

The state tally of positive cases has now reached 97,362, of which 40,191 are the total number of active cases. The state death toll counted to 1,778, while 55,393 patients have been discharged after recovery so far.
