New Delhi: The highlights of Wednesday in terms of coronavirus situation included the major slump in the daily fatalities. Delhi reported eleven fatalities in the last 24 hours which is lowest in many past weeks. 

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal directed the officials to make efforts in the direction of bringing the fatalities to zero. The death toll has now reached 4,044 in the national capital.

On the other hand, new cases exceeded the recoveries after a long time. Since the beginning of July, recoveries had exceeded the new cases on almost every day barring few exceptions.

Delhi recorded 1,076 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the tally to 1,40,232. In the last three days, the daily new cases were below the 1,000 mark. 890 patients recovered on Wednesday taking the total to 1,26,116. 

With this, the active cases increased in the national capital. There was a spike of 175 active cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases have again breached the 10,000 mark. It came below the 10,000 mark on the previous day. Delhi has now a total of 10,072 active cases.

A total of 16,785 tests including 11,915 RTPCR and 4,870 rapid antigen tests were conducted on Wednesday.

The positivity rate stood at 6.4 per cent while the recovery rate was nearly 90 per cent.
