Delhi Police to penalise vehicle owners for driving without masks

New Delhi: As part of the updated rules implemented by the Delhi police, vehicle owners will now be penalised if they are found driving without masks. The driver will be penalised even if he is alone in the car.

This is also applicable to the 2-wheeler riders as they are exposed to the surroundings even more. The riders are expected to wear the masks under the helmets all the time.

The move has come to check the spread of coronavirus in the national capital.

The updated rules stated that protections, such as wearing a handkerchief or any cloth around the face, will not be enough. The vehicle owners are liable for penalty if they are caught without masks.

The report said that the step has been taken keeping certain situations in mind where drivers stop their vehicle and interact with people or ask for directions.
