New Delhi: For the fifth straight day on Sunday, the coronavirus situation has deteriorated in Delhi. New cases exceeded the recoveries and active cases increased in the last 24 hours in the national capital.

The city reported 1,300 new cases taking the tally to 1,45,427 on Sunday. Since August 5, the daily new cases have been above the 1,000 mark.

1,225 patients recovered in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,30,587 patients have recovered in the national capital so far.

Active cases increased by 62 on Sunday. Delhi has now 10,729 active cases. It had gone below the 10,000 mark on August 4.  

However, with 13 more fatalities, the death toll has now reached 4,111. 

The number of people in home isolation increased by 90 in the last 24 hours. A total of 5,462 patients are in home isolation at the moment.

23,787 (5,702 RTPCR and 18,085 rapid antigen) tests were conducted in the last 24 hours. Delhi has conducted a total of 11,92,082 tests till date.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated a new government hospital at Ambedkar Nagar. It has 200 beds for Covid patients. The capacity will be increased to 600 beds soon.

Speaking on the occasion, Kejriwal said, “The coronavirus situation is under control. All parameters are good, recovery rate is improving, positivity ratio and deaths have reduced.”
