Case of fraud against Unitech in Gurgaon

The Gurgaon police have registered a case of fraud against a leading construction company, Unitech, at Sector 40 police station following a complaint by a resident, who alleged that the firm had swindled him of Rs 36 lakh in the name of selling a flat in an upcoming project.

Initial investigations carried out by the monetary fraud branch of the police found the allegations to be true. According to the complaint, Kuldeep Singh Soni, a resident of DLF Phase 5, had contacted Unitech in 2012. He was made to pay the sum – as down payment and EMIs -- for a flat to be delivered in a Unitech project in Sector 71, Gurgaon.

Between 2012 and 2015, he has made payments worth Rs 36.28 lakh. “Even after making the complete payment, the developer failed to deliver the flat according to the timeline committed. They are not even paying me back,” Kuldeep told City Spidey.

When contacted, Sandeep Kumar, ASI of Sector 40 police station, said, “A complaint has been filed on the basis of fraud and cheating. The FIR has been registered against Unitech and further investigations are on.”
