New Delhi: Delhi on Monday reported 1,061 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally to 1,62,527. With 13 fatalities, the death toll reached 4,313 in the last 24 hours. 

The number of new cases has been below 1,500 in the last 39 days.

On the other hand, 1,200 patients recovered from the deadly disease on Monday. A total of 1,46,588 patients have recovered in the national capital so far. The recovery rate is 90.19 per cent.

The active cases declined by 152 in the national capital. Delhi has now 11,676 active cases. The number of people under home isolation crossed 6,000 for the first time in August.

The positivity rate increased to 45-day high of 8.9 per cent. It is the highest since July 10 when the positivity rate was 9.09 per cent. It dropped to 5.2 per cent on August 17.

The Delhi government on Monday said that following Delhi, the USA has adopted plasma therapy to treat patients. 
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted, “They used to say, back in the day - what America does today, India would do tomorrow. Delhi has changed it. Now - what Delhi did yesterday, America does today. Congratulations Delhiites for achieving this for our country. (sic)”

“Back in April 2020, Delhi government was the first in the country to apply for permission from the Centre to carry out trials of plasma therapy at Lok Nayak Hospital,” an official statement said.
