Possession on the cards for Jaypee Aman, Noida?

Following a protest of homebuyers of Jaypee Aman, at Noida Authority's Sector 6 office on Thursday, the Authority's chairman Pravir Kumar summoned Manoj Gaur, the managing director of Jaypee Group to discuss possession of flats. Representatives of Jaypee Aman project were also called for the meeting.

Gaur told City Spidey that Jaypee group will give possession of all flats by the end of 2017. He said that his firm was in the process of preparing a schedule for possession in phases, which would be handed over to Noida Authority's CEO in a week.

Anup Tripathi, a buyer, who was present in the meeting, said that it was decided that the builder will hand over towers 1 to 6 by December 2016, while the remaining flats will be handed over by the end of 2017.

Earlier at the protest, buyers said that they had booked their flats in 2009, and despite the builder's commitment to complete the flats by 2013, flats were still not ready.

Homebuyers added that they had written to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and received a reply from him on the issue. They claimed that the CM had promised to ask the local authorities to investigate the matter. But two months had passed since his response and nothing had been done.

SK Nagrath, president of Jaypee Aman Buyer Welfare Association, told City Spidey that although he had paid 95 per cent of the amount to the builder, he continues to live in a rented house. "The construction of the project stopped two years ago. I always found the site deserted every time I visited. Some flat buyers are in such dire straits that they have even considered committing suicide," he added.

Kusum Sinha, another buyer, said that her family was under a lot of financial stress due to the double whammy of having to pay rent and house loan EMIs. "Most of us flatbuyers are from the low-income or the middle-income categories," she added.
