New Delhi: Delhi on Tuesday reported 1,544 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike in August so far, taking the cumulative tally to 1,64,071. With 17 fatalities, the death toll reached 4,330 in the last 24 hours. 

The mark of 1,500 new cases was breached after 40 days.

On the other hand, 1,155 patients recovered from the deadly disease on Monday. A total of 1,47,743 patients have recovered in the national capital so far. The recovery rate was over 90 per cent.

The active cases increased by 372 in the national capital. Delhi has now 11,998 active cases. The number of people under home isolation is 5,949.

The positivity rate was 7.7 per cent. It dropped to 5.2 per cent on August 17.

14,462 rapid antigen tests and 5,380 RTPCR, CBNAAT and True NAT tests were conducted on Tuesday. A total of 19,841 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.

The total number of tests done till date stands at 14,62,845. The number of tests done per million was 76,991. The number of containment zones stood at 654.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called a high-level meeting to discuss the overall coronavirus situation as the number of infections are again increasing in the national capital. The meeting will take place on Wednesday.
