New Delhi: Delhi on Thursday reported 1,840 fresh coronavirus cases, the highest single-day spike in August so far, taking the cumulative tally to 1,67,604. With 22 fatalities, the death toll reached 4,369 in the last 24 hours. 

It was the third successive highest single-day spike in this month. It was also the highest single-day spike in the last 47 days. 

On the other hand, 1,130 patients recovered from the deadly disease on Thursday. A total of 1,50,027 patients have recovered in the national capital so far. The recovery rate was 89.51 per cent.

The active cases increased by 688 in the national capital. Delhi has now 13,208 active cases. 

The positivity rate was 8.73 per cent. It dropped to 5.2 per cent on August 17. The death rate stands at 2.60 per cent. Fresh cases and active cases have shown regular increases in the last several days. At present, out of the total number of beds in COVID hospitals, 10,321 are vacant.

14,018 rapid antigen tests and 7,943 RTPCR, CBNAAT and True NAT tests were conducted on Thursday. A total of 21,961 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.

The total number of tests done till date stands at 15,03,722. The number of tests done per million was 79,143. The number of containment zones jumped to 734 in the last 24 hours.
