Gurugram: Gurugram recorded 126 fresh cases of Covid-19 on Friday, pushing the district’s cumulative tally to 11,555, according to the district health department.

As many as 90 patients were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the overall recoveries to 10,450 in the district. The recovery rate slightly dropped to 90.43 from 90.64 per cent on Thursday. It was 90.95 per cent on Wednesday, 91.13 per cent on Tuesday, and 91.32 per cent on Monday, according to the statistics.

So far, the deadly disease has claimed 132 lives in the district, of whom, 93 patients had co-morbidities while 39 patients had no known disease, the health bulletin said.

According to the health bulletin, the number of active cases in the district has also gone up to 973 from 937 on Thursday, 890 on Wednesday and 858 on Tuesday. Of the total active cases, 18 are hospitalised at dedicated Covid hospitals, while 93 are under observation at dedicated Covid healthcare centres. 17 are under observation at district Covid care centre. 845 patients are in home isolation.

With the rising coronavirus cases in the district, the health department will intensify identification of symptomatic patients, increase the testing and home isolation will be strictly implemented.

Civil Surgeon, Gurugram, Dr Virendra Yadav said that there has been addition of 793 new cases of Covid-19 during the last week as compared to 620 cases of the previous week, which indicates that there has been an increase in the positivity rate during the last 7 days in the district. 

“The positivity rate has increased due to people venturing out unnecessarily and having public gathering without following social distancing. This is the reason that more people are found infected in the same family or locality. For instance, Jacobpura, which has been declared a Large Outbreak Region, has 15 people from a family getting infected on the same day.”

He said that in the last five days, more than 100 positive cases daily have been reported in the district. “The district’s doubling rate has reached 80 days while the positivity rate counted to 6.77 per cent. The fatality rate stood at 1.15 percent, and growth rate 1.1 per cent in the district,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haryana recorded 1,298 new cases and 15 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the state total caseload to 60,596 while death toll counted to 661, according to the state health bulletin.

The overall recoveries counted to 49,710 after 1,020 patients were treated and discharged in the last 24 hours. At the moment, there are 10,225 active cases across the state.

The recovery rate counted to 82.04 per cent, while the Covid-19 positivity rate counted to 5.67 per cent. The fatality rate stood at 1.09 per cent. The state’s doubling rate of coronavirus cases is every 34 days.
