New Delhi: Delhi on Saturday reported 1,954 fresh coronavirus cases, which is the highest single-day spike in August, taking the cumulative tally to 1,71,366. With 15 fatalities, the death toll reached 4,404 in the last 24 hours. 

This is the third consecutive day when new cases were above 1,800. Also, the new cases reported on Saturday was the highest single-day spike in 50 days.

Delhi had recorded its previous highest spike of 1,840 fresh cases on August 27.

On the other hand, 1,449 patients recovered from the deadly disease on Saturday. A total of 1,52,922 patients have recovered in the national capital so far. The recovery rate was over 89 per cent.

The active cases increased by 490 in the national capital. Delhi has now 14,040 active cases. The number of people under home isolation is 7,024.

The positivity rate was 8.8 per cent. It dropped to 5.2 per cent on August 17.

15,407 rapid antigen tests and 6,597 RTPCR, CBNAAT and True NAAT tests were conducted on Saturday. A total of 22,004 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.

The total number of tests done till date stands at 15,48,659. The number of tests done per million was 81,508. The number of containment zones stood at 763.

Out of the total number of beds in Covid hospitals, 10,177 are vacant.
