In August, the city had recorded the highest single-day spike of 2,024 new cases on Sunday.

New Delhi: Delhi on Tuesday reported 2,312 fresh coronavirus cases, which is the highest single-day in nearly two months, taking the cumulative tally to 1,77,060. With 18 fatalities, the death toll reached 4,462 in the last 24 hours. 

Delhi had reported 2,442 and 2,373 cases on July 1 and July 2. In August, the city had recorded the highest single-day spike of 2,024 new cases on Sunday. 

On the other hand, 1,050 patients recovered from the deadly disease on Tuesday. A total of 1,56,728 patients have recovered in the national capital so far. The recovery rate declined to 88.51 per cent.

The active cases increased by 1,244 in the national capital. Delhi has now 15,870 active cases. 

17,000 rapid antigen tests and 7,198 RTPCR, CBNAAT and True NAAT tests were conducted on Saturday. A total of 16,07,683 tests have been conducted in Delhi so far.

The positivity rate stood at 9.5 per cent. The number of containment zones jumped to 846 on Tuesday from 833 the previous day.
