MPD-2041: DDA holds meeting with residents, RWAs of unauthorised colonies

New Delhi: In its effort to engage all the stakeholders in development of Delhi’s Master Plan 2041, the officials of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) held an online meeting with residents and representatives of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of unauthorised colonies on Wednesday.

The meetings were held in three batches, starting from 11 am onwards. As per officials, around 120 people and RWAs attended the meeting.

The participants were asked to share their suggestions regarding the registration process, improvement and redevelopment in unauthorised colonies.

The meeting was convened by Leenu Sehgal, Commissioner (Planning), and Neeraj Bharti, Commissioner (Land Pooling) from DDA. The officials discussed the details of the PM-UDAY scheme and application process to be followed by the property owners in unauthorised colonies.

Most of the participants raised their concerns about the lack of access to the basic services of water and sanitation. They sought help in providing other facilities in their locality.

Legality of their properties, narrow access roads, congestion, conflicts between commercial and residential uses, quality of drinking water and water logging were also discussed by the participants in the meeting.

Many participants also raised their concern about the vulnerability of their areas to the disasters such as fire and earthquakes etc.

The Master Plan of Delhi-2041 is a vision document for the city’s development. NIUA has been asked to submit the draft MPD-2041 by December-end.
