With record single-day spike, coronavirus tally crosses 14k mark in Gurugram

Gurugram: Gurugram’s cumulative tally crossed the mark of 14,000 as 309 more people tested positive of Covid-19 on Thursday. It is the highest single-day spike. The total infection count was pushed to 14,295, according to the district health department.

The district’s overall recoveries counted to 12,204 after 216 patients were treated and discharged during the 24 hours period.

As the number of new coronavirus positive patients increased, the recovery rate has started coming down in the district, which further slipped to 85.37 per cent from 85.71 per cent on Wednesday. It was 86.01 per cent on Tuesday, 86.47 per cent on Monday, and 86.31 per cent on Sunday, according to the statistics.

The number of active cases has also gone up to 1951 from 1,858 on Wednesday. It was 1760 on Tuesday, 1,682 on Monday, 1,686 on Sunday, and 1520 on Saturday, as per the data.

Of the total active cases, 18 are hospitalised at dedicated Covid hospitals, while 169 are under observation at dedicated Covid healthcare centres. 24 are under observation at district Covid care centre whereas 1,740 patients are in home isolation.

So far, the deadly disease has claimed 140 lives in the district, of whom, 98 patients had co-morbidities, while 42 patients had no known disease.

Meanwhile, Haryana recorded its biggest single-day spike of 2,591 fresh cases, taking the state total infection tally to 85,944, while the death toll counted to 907 as 25 more persons succumbed to the deadly disease in the last 24 hours.

The state’s overall recoveries counted to 66,705, while the total number of active cases stood at 18,332.

The state’s recovery rate counted to 77.61 per cent, while the Covid-19 positivity rate counted to 6.17 per cent. The fatality rate stood at 1.06 per cent. The state’s doubling rate of coronavirus cases is every 30 days.
