Dwarka: Waste segregation to start from sectors 22, 23 on pilot basis

Dwarka: To manage the waste in a better manner for environment protection, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) has started its efforts to segregate waste at source. They are also making efforts for separate disposal of wet and dry waste.

In the first stage, the SDMC will make people aware about the importance of segregation of waste. This will be started from sectors 22 and 23 in Dwarka.

Moreover, the corporation has arranged 13 Tata 407 vehicles which will be capable of carrying wet and dry waste separately. The vehicles will be useful in effective waste disposal.

The SDMC also plans to make people aware about converting wet waste into fertilizers. It will help in increasing greenery in the neighbourhood areas.

The municipal councillor of Ward B, Kamaljeet Sehrawat informed that the waste segregation will be started in sectors 22 and 23 as a pilot project. Green and blue bins will be placed outside all the societies. People would be dumping the wet and dry waste separately.

Further, the vehicles will be carrying the waste separately. Currently, two Tata 407 vehicles have been arranged for these sectors. After the success in these two sectors, the same model will be replicated in other areas of Ward B.

If any society wishes to convert wet waste into fertilizers, then they will be supported by the corporation. They will be educated on the process to make fertilizers.
