Delhi records less than 3,000 new coronavirus cases for second day in a row

New Delhi: For the second day in a row, Delhi recorded less than 3,000 new cases. 2,258 fresh cases were reported, taking the cumulative tally to 2,87,930 on Saturday. The number of new cases reported came out of 39,306 tests conducted on the previous day. 

The positivity rate increased to 6.48 per cent from 5.19 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate 9.45 per cent.

Delhi recorded 2,920 fresh cases on Friday, 3,037 on Thursday, 3,390 on Wednesday, 3,227 on Tuesday, 1,984 on Monday, 3,292 on Sunday and 3,372 on Saturday.

39,306 tests were conducted, of which 8,844 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 30,462 were rapid antigen tests. 56,258 tests were conducted on Thursday, 55,423 on Wednesday, 59,807 on Tuesday, 59,102 on Monday, 36,302 on Sunday, 51,416 tests on Saturday and 57,688 on Friday. The total number of tests stood at 32,30,952.

The authorities have conducted around 4.74 tests in the last 10 days with an average of more than 47,000 tests per day.  

34 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, which was the lowest figure since September 25 when 24 fatalities were recorded. The death toll has now reached 5,472. 37 deaths were recorded on Friday, 40 on Thursday and 41 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, 48 deaths were reported, which was the highest single-day fatalities since July 16. 

On the other hand, Delhi reported more than 3,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours. 3,440 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 2,57,224 in the national capital. The recovery rate increased to 89.33 per cent from 88.83 per cent on the previous day.

The recoveries outnumbered the new cases by a significant margin on Saturday. It affected the active cases positively. Active cases declined by 1,216 in the city. Delhi has now 25,234 active cases. The active cases have come down in the last few days after crossing the 30,000 mark during the last upsurge in cases.
