New Delhi: For the third consecutive day, Delhi recorded less than 3,000 new cases. 2,683 fresh cases were reported, taking the cumulative tally to 2,90,613 on Sunday. The number of new cases reported came out of 50,832 tests conducted on the previous day.

The positivity rate declined to 5.28 per cent from 6.48 per cent on the previous day. The cumulative positivity rate was 8.86 per cent.

Delhi recorded 2,258 fresh cases on Saturday, 2,920 on Friday, 3,037 on Thursday, 3,390 on Wednesday, 3,227 on Tuesday, 1,984 on Monday and 3,292 on Sunday.

50,832 tests were conducted, of which 8,963 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 41,869 were rapid antigen tests. 39,306 tests were conducted on Friday, 56,258 on Thursday, 55,423 on Wednesday, 59,807 on Tuesday, 59,102 on Monday, 36,302 on Sunday and 51,416 tests on Saturday. The total number of tests stood at 32,81,784.

The authorities have conducted around 4.66 lakh tests in the last 10 days with an average of more than 46,000 tests per day.  

38 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll has now reached 5,510. 34 deaths were reported on Saturday, which was the lowest figure since September 25 when 24 fatalities were recorded. 37 deaths were recorded on Friday, 40 on Thursday and 41 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, 48 deaths were reported, which was the highest single-day fatalities since July 16. 

On the other hand, Delhi reported more than 3,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours. 3,126 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 2,60,350 in the national capital. The recovery rate increased to 89.58 per cent from 89.33 per cent on the previous day.

The recoveries outnumbered the new cases by a significant margin on Sunday. It affected the active cases positively. Active cases declined by 481 in the city. Delhi has now 24,753 active cases. The active cases have come down in the last few days after crossing the 30,000 mark during the last upsurge in cases.
