New Delhi: Delhi on Monday reported 40 deaths due to coronavirus, taking the death toll to 5,809. 1,849 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally to 3,11,188. The number of new cases reported came out of 35,947 tests conducted on the previous day.

29 deaths were reported on Sunday, 48 on Saturday, 38 on Friday, 37 on Thursday, 35 on Wednesday, 39 on Tuesday and 32 on Monday.

For the eleventh straight day, Delhi reported less than 3,000 new coronavirus cases. Delhi recorded 2,780 new cases on Sunday, 2,866 on Saturday, 2,860 on Friday, 2,726 on Thursday, 2,871 on Wednesday and 2,676 on Tuesday.

35,947 tests were conducted, of which 10,260 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 25,687 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate slightly declined to 5.14 per cent from 5.70 per cent on the previous day. 48,753 tests were conducted on Saturday, 49,736 on Friday, 49,125 on Thursday, 53,322 on Wednesday, 51,505 on Tuesday and 53,591 on Monday.

On the other hand, Delhi reported around 3,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours. 2,975 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 2,84,844 in the national capital. The recovery rate slightly increased to 91.53 per cent from 91.11 per cent on the previous day.

The recoveries outnumbered the new cases on Monday. It affected the active cases count positively. Active cases declined by 1,166 in the city. Delhi has now 20,535 active cases. 12,365 patients are under home isolation. Out of the total number of 16,118 beds in Covid hospitals, 10,967 are vacant.
