Eldeco Amantaran: Residents protest against increase in maintenance charge

Noida: Residents of Eldeco Amantaran, a highrise residential society in Sector 119, Noida, came out to stage a protest against the developer of the society, demanding withdrawal of the proposal, under which he wanted to increase common area maintenance (CAM) charge. It was held on Wednesday evening at society compound.

While protesting, residents raised slogans against the developer and Noida Industrial Development Authority for putting forth a proposal of increasing CAM charge by 20 per cent from January 2021. They were holding banners and posters and took rounds of the society compound.

According to the residents, the developer is allegedly demanding Rs 3 per square foot as CAM charge from them, which would be made applicable from the month of January 2021. They said that to oppose this proposal, they have staged a protest against the developer.

Residents said that they contacted the developer on the issues and urged not to increase the CAM charge in the society. But the developer argued that maintenance expense has already increased and to meet this expense, he would have to hike the CAM charge. Though, residents are allowed to pay CAM charge at rate of Rs 2.75 per square foot for next two months (November and December) and after that, they would have to pay little more to meet the expenses.

Residents said that they are not ready to pay the increased CAM charge as the services are not up to the mark. They said that forget the services, they are staying in the society with fear of getting hit anytime as wall plasters fall down frequently. But the developer is not looking into this and he is now going to increase the maintenance charge.

There were more than 30 residents including Sanjay Mehta, Ankush Kushwaha, Sameer Guleriya, who staged the protest opposing the developer proposal of increasing CAM charge from coming month.
