If we could have made you sniff, this would smell like sewer water...

Water so murky that residents at Dwarka's Harsh Apartments can't even use DJB supplied water for watering the plants.

If we could have made you sniff, this would smell like sewer water...

Residents of Harsh Apartments Sector 10, DDA Pocket 1, Dwarka, are being supplied dirty and contaminated water supply for more than a month now.

"Delhi Jal Board [DJB] has been supplying us dirty water since the past two weeks," said Gaman Singh, general secretary of the RWA. "The water smells of sewer and tends to foam up for some reason. Several people have fallen ill in the society. It is a grave threat."

According to residents, the frequent rains have caused water from overflowing sewers and drains to seep in through a crack in DJB's supply pipeline.

"We are left with no choice but to buy drinking water," said Anil Kumar Chowdhary, president of the society. "It is both a health risk and a burden on our pockets. I hope the authority addresses the problem soon."

The RWA has written several letters to DJB to solve the problem. “We are yet to receive a response. The engineers were also called but even that did not help,” said Singh.

Area MLA, Gulab Singh Yadav said, “I have taken this subject seriously and had a meeting with the concerned officials of Delhi Jal Board. The entire damaged pipeline would be replaced at the earliest. The problem would be resolved properly as soon as possible.”
