Delhi witnesses coldest October in 58 years

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that Delhi has witnessed the coldest month of October since 1962.

The IMD said, “In 2020, Delhi recorded the mean minimum temperature of 17.2 degrees Celsius in October, which is the lowest since 1962 when it was 16.9 degrees Celsius at Safdarjung monitoring station.”

As per the IMD scientist, the drop in temperature has happened due to calm winds and absence of cloud cover in the national capital. He said that the minimum temperature will further drop to 10 degrees Celsius.

On October 29, the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.5 degrees Celsius, which was the lowest October temperature in 26 years. The lowest-ever temperature was recorded in 1937 at 9.4 per cent.

In the next few days, there has been a forecast of clear skies and foggy morning conditions.
