New Delhi: For the fifth day in a row, Delhi reported more than 5,000 new coronavirus cases. The national capital on Sunday recorded 5,664 new cases, pushing the cumulative tally to 3,92,370, the health bulletin said.  

The number of new cases reported came out of 44,623 tests conducted on the previous day. Of which, 14,347 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 30,276 were rapid antigen tests. 

The positivity rate has also increased in the last few days. The positivity rate jumped to 12.69 per cent from 11.4 per cent on the previous day.

51 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,562. 41 deaths were reported on Saturday, 47 on Friday, 27 on Thursday, 40 on Wednesday, 44 on Tuesday, 54 on Monday and 33 on Sunday.

4,159 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 3,51,635 in the national capital. The recovery rate slightly declined to 89.61 per cent from 89.85 per cent on the previous day.

The new cases outnumbered the recoveries by a significant margin on Saturday. It affected the active cases figure adversely. Active cases increased by 1,454 in the last 24 hours. Delhi has now 34,173 active cases. Among them, 20,732 are in home isolation.

Out of the total 15,775 beds for patients in hospitals, 9,314 are vacant.
