New Delhi: Amid the rising pollution in the city, the Delhi government has limited the burning of firecrackers to designated places on the upcoming festival of Diwali.

The government has arranged more than 840 open spaces where people would be able to burn the firecrackers on the occasion of Diwali.

On top of it, the Delhi government has also fixed the timing for burning of firecrackers. People would only be allowed the burn firecrackers for two hours in the evening. The timing for burning firecrackers has been fixed between 8 pm and 10 pm on Diwali.

Moreover, only green firecrackers are allowed. The government has appealed to the people to avoid burning of firecrackers at residential colonies and narrow lanes.

The government has also agreed to open the gates at the open spaces at school premises, parks at community centres, playgrounds and big parks.
