New Delhi: Record for the highest single-day coronavirus spike was shattered as Delhi reported 6,725 new cases on Tuesday. It has happened for the first time that the daily new cases have been reported in excess of 6,000. 

With this, the cumulative tally has crossed four lakh mark. A total of 4,03,096 cases have been reported so far in the national capital.

The number of new cases reported came out of 59,540 tests conducted on the previous day. Of which, 13,560 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 45,980 were rapid antigen tests. 

The positivity rate has also increased in the last few days. The positivity rate was 11.29 per cent.

48 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 6,652. 42 deaths were reported on Monday, 51 on Sunday, 41 on Saturday, 47 on Friday, 27 on Thursday, 40 on Wednesday and 44 on Tuesday.

3,610 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 3,60,069 in the national capital. The recovery rate slightly declined to 89.32 per cent from 89.93 per cent on the previous day.

The new cases outnumbered the recoveries by a significant margin on Tuesday. Active cases increased by 3,067 in the last 24 hours. Delhi has now 36,375 active cases. The active cases figure was at its highest so far on Tuesday.

A total of 21,521 patients are in home isolation in the national capital. Out of the total 15,823 beds for patients in hospitals, 9,025 are vacant.
