New Delhi: The citizens of Delhi woke up to a thick blanket of smog in the air as air quality deteriorated close to “emergency” levels on Tuesday. 

As per an official of India Meteorological Department (IMD), the smog reduced the visibility to 300 meters in the morning. 

At 9 am, Delhi recorded an AQI of 487, which is in the “severe” category. 

The neighbouring cities also recorded air quality in the “severe” category. The air quality was recorded at 474 at Faridabad, 476 at Ghaziabad, 490 at Noida, 467 in Greater Noida and 469 at Gurugram.

This is the sixth day in a row when air quality was recorded in the “severe” category.
