New Delhi: Delhi on Tuesday reported the highest single-day spike of 7,830 new coronavirus cases, taking the cumulative tally to 4,51,382. The previous highest single-day spike till date of 7,745 cases was recorded on Sunday.

The number of new cases reported came out of 59,035 tests conducted on the previous day. Of which, 17,810 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 41,225 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate was 13.26 per cent.

83 patients died from the deadly disease in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 7,143. 71 deaths were recorded on Monday, 77 on Sunday, 79 on Saturday, 64 on Friday, 66 on Thursday and 51 on Wednesday.

6,157 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 4,02,854 in the national capital. The recovery rate was 89.24 per cent.

The new cases outnumbered the recoveries by a significant margin on Tuesday. Active cases increased by 1,590 in the last 24 hours. Delhi has now 41,385 active cases. 

A total of 24,178 patients are in home isolation in the national capital.
