Gurgaon: CM orders probe in Ardee City power woes

Following a complaint on long power outages and inflated electricity bills by the residents of Ardee City, a residential society in Sector 52, Gurgaon, the chief minister’s office has ordered the power department to investigate the matter.

Residents allege that the developer duped them of crores of rupees by overcharging for electricity. They claim that the builder has a load distribution sanction for 1,500 flats only but the actual number of flats exceeds 2,500. Due to the increased load, the society is facing a lot of power cuts and residents are having a tough time. Residents also allege that they have been paying surcharge and power maintenance fee of 12 per cent of the total bill.

Bharat Bhalla, a resident, said, “The entire power system is illegal. The connections are illegal, bill generation system is illegal and there is no authority to look into the matter. Now that the CM has ordered an investigation, we are hoping for things to get better.”

When City Spidey contacted Sanjeev Chopra, superintending engineer of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), he said, “The chief engineers of the power department have been directed to look into the matter and file an investigation report at the earliest.”
