Ganga water supply to be restored in Noida from Wednesday

Noida: Residents of Noida would now be relieved from the issue of water scarcity as the Ganga water supply will be fully restored from Wednesday. With this, the issue of drinking water will be solved.

The supply was disrupted almost a month ago due to annual cleaning of Ganga canal, through which cities like Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad are getting Ganga water supply for drinking.

According to a source with Noida Industrial Development Authority, the work of annual cleaning of the canal was completed and the supply of Ganga water also began from Haridwar through the canal.

Ganga water reaches Ghaziabad in two to three days and then it is supplied to Noida. The officials may take one more day to store water to suffice the supply need.

The residents were facing scarcity shortly after the start of annual cleaning work in the second week of October. In the meantime, they were being supplied water from rainy wells in the city.

Most of them were not functional, due to which residents had to face scarcity in water supply.

“But this issue will be solved as the Ganga water supply would now be restored fully from day after tomorrow,” an official said.
