New Delhi: Putting aside all the speculations amid recent upsurge in coronavirus cases, Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Monday said that Delhi will not be put under another lockdown since the third wave of coronavirus has already peaked in the national capital.

“There is no chance of a lockdown. I can tell you today that the peak of Delhi's third wave is gone,” he said.

When asked about the chances of closing the markets, he said, “It has not even been considered. The festival is over. The crowds will get thinner now on.” However, the Minister cautioned the people and asked them to follow the guidelines and wear masks.

Delhi on Sunday reported 3,235 new cases, taking the cumulative tally to 4,85,405. In the last 24 hours, Delhi recorded 95 deaths. The death toll has reached 7,614.

The number of new cases reported came out of 21,098 tests conducted on the previous day. The positivity rate was 15.33 per cent.
