New Delhi: Delhi recorded its highest ever daily coronavirus death toll of 131 on Wednesday. The daily death figures have been on the higher side in the past one week. The death toll has now reached 7,943.

99 deaths were reported on Tuesday, 95 on Monday, 96 on Saturday, 91 on Friday and 104 on Thursday.

This is also the day when the total cumulative tally of positive cases crossed the mark of 5 lakh. Delhi on Wednesday reported 7,486 new cases, taking the cumulative tally to 5,03,084. The number of new cases reported came out of 62,232 tests conducted on the previous day.

Of which, 19,085 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 43,147 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate was 12.03 per cent.

The new cases outnumbered the recoveries on Wednesday. Active cases increased by 454 in the last 24 hours. Delhi has now 42,458 active cases. A total of 24,842 patients are in home isolation in the national capital.

Out of the total 16,884 beds in coronavirus hospitals, 7,541 beds are vacant.
