Residents request Noida Authority to fix dust pollution issue on priority

Noida: Residents requested Noida Authority to pay attention towards the prevalent dust pollution in the city and make efforts to fix the issue permanently.

In a letter written to Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer with Noida Industrial Development Authority, the residents told that footpaths are damaged in several residential areas.

They said, “Huge dust has already gathered on them with passage of time. It goes into the air even during the mild storm causing dust pollution.”

AN Dhavan, a resident of Sector 52 and chief patron of Janshakti Seva Samiti admitted that the authority is carrying out pollution control measures by sprinkling water on both sides of major roads in the city.

He said that it is effective as far as settling dust for time being is concerned. But the dust, that has accumulated on damaged footpaths over passage of time, has also been contributing to pollution.

He said, “The authority should take it into notice and initiate actions to fix it on priority basis.”

Dhavan, who is also a vigilante resident, observed that the damaged footpaths in Sector 52 have been crying for attention since long. But the official concerned has not fixed them in past two years.

He said, “Footpaths are not damaged in only this sector as the authority made similar plan for other areas as well. If they are repaired and all damaged tiles interlocks are fixed, it would help in reducing the dust pollution.”
