Delhi records 5,879 new coronavirus cases; positivity rate at 12.90 pc

New Delhi: Delhi on Saturday reported 5,879 new cases, taking the cumulative tally to 5,23,117. The number of new cases reported came out of 45,562 tests conducted on the previous day.

Of which, 21,845 were RTPCR/CBNAAT/TrueNat tests and 23,717 were rapid antigen tests. The positivity rate was 12.90 per cent.

111 patients died due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 8,270. 118 deaths were recorded on Friday, 98 on Thursday, 131 on Wednesday, 99 on Tuesday and 95 on Monday.

6,963 patients recovered from the deadly disease, taking the total recovery figure to 4,75,106 in the national capital. The recovery rate was 90.82 per cent.

The recoveries outnumbered the new cases by significant margin on Saturday. Active cases declined by 1,195 in the last 24 hours. Delhi has now 39,741 active cases. 

The number of containment zones in Delhi rose to 4,633 on Saturday from 4,560 on Friday.
