Homes 121 wants Mother Dairy and Safal booths

Citing rising incidents of chain snatching and burglary in the area, residents of this Sector 121 society want to replace roadside fruit and vegetable vendors with safer options.

Residents of Homes 121, in Sector 121, Noida, are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the growing presence of vegetable and fruit vendors outside the society. Rising incidents of petty crime have prompted them to urge authorities to set up Mother Dairy and Safal booths in the vicinity instead.

Sajeev Dixit, a resident, said, “More than 70 per cent residents stay with kids and are concerned for their safety. It would help residents greatly if they have booths of dairy products, fruits and vegetables. Also, they won’t have to bargain with roadside vendors if these booths are available.”

Residents recently apprised the local MLA, Vimla Batham, of the situation and told her of their concerns regarding the increasing number of vendors outside the apartments.

BS Sharma, another resident, said, “Residents are forced to buy fruits and vegetables from them, as they don’t have an alternative. As these vendors are not verified by the local police, they are scared of petty crime and other safety issues.” Sharma added that to minimise the risk of crimes such as chain snatching, theft and burglary, these vendors must be replaced with Mother Dairy and Safal booths.

Noida Authority recently released a list of developing booths in different sectors. The list, however, does not mention Sector 121. Gaya Prasad, assistant project engineer of Noida Authority, told City Spidey, “Sectors 70 and 122 will be added to the list shortly. We will consider adding Sector 121, but at a later stage.”
