New Delhi: Delhi government has decided to conduct Feluda paper strip tests to investigate coronavirus cases in the city. As per the officials, the tests are expected to start within a week to ten days. 

The Feluda paper strip tests give faster results than RTPCR tests. It is also done in a lab and a nasopharyngeal swab will be used to conduct the test, just like the RTPCR test.

The government officials are of the view that the Feluda paper strip tests will increase the testing capacity, but it will not replace the RTPCR tests as it is the gold standard of testing.

The Feluda paper strip test gives results within one hour. It is faster than the RTPCR test. On October 22, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) had issued an advisory for the use of Feluda paper strip test.

An official shared that the procurement of Feluda paper strip test kits are yet to be done from TATA Group or the ICMR. As per him, it will be done within a week and medical personnel will also be trained for its use.
