DJB launches ambitious rain water harvesting campaign

New Delhi: The Vice Chairman of Delhi Jal Board Raghav Chadha on Wednesday met with all the 42 Zonal Revenue Officers (ZROs) to launch a rain water harvesting campaign – 30 days. 200 structures. Chadha emphasised on making the campaign successful and issued directions to ZROs for strict compliance.

The DJB asked each zone to identify at least five places where RWH structures can be built. However, Chadha asked them to think beyond and aim to build as many structures as possible.

“Several RWAs are extremely strong. In addition, many hospitals don’t have RWH structures. ZROs can rope in such hospitals for these structures. The smaller shopping malls can be another prospective place for RWH structures. Even market associations can work on constructing such structures,” he said.

Chadha said that he would like Delhi to reach a stage where people can flaunt their rain water harvesting structures. “Under the vision of CM Arvind Kejriwal, every Delhiite will have 24*7 access to water,” he said.

Stressing on building as many RWH structures as possible, Chadha said, “If there is any RWA, college or industrial area that is willing to construct more than one rainwater harvesting structure, I would like to visit them, interact with them and encourage them about the benefits of such a system.”

The Vice Chairman said that he will review the progress of the campaign in 30 days.
