New Delhi: The Department of Veterinary Services, South Delhi Municipal Council (SDMC) has directed the officials to strictly enforce the byelaws where there is a penalty of Rs 500 against the pet owners who let their pet dogs ease out on the public places, roads and parks in the city.
The residents and the RWAs have complained that unhygienic conditions and filth have been created on the roads of the residential areas, public places and parks by the poop of pet dogs.
The order stated that under the Solid Waste Management Byelaws 2018, notified by the Government of NCT, the littering by owned/pet animals is prohibited under Section 13 (i) (e).
The byelaws state that the poop of pet dogs is to be cleaned by the pet dog owners.
“The action will restrict the pet dog owners for not allowing their pets for poop at public places and supplement the efforts of the SDMC in obtaining better ranking in Swatch Sarvekshan Abhiyan 2021,” the order said.
